There has been a serious overhaul in the structure of the 10 best-selling vehicle brands in Indonesia in August 2024. BYD, which has just started selling its cars for several months, is now in 6th place.
BYD, which only sells electric cars in Indonesia, was recorded in the wholesales data of the Indonesian automotive industry association (Gaikindo), selling 2,940 units.

The sales figure was the largest for BYD since Gaikindo began recording sales since June.

In July, BYD was ranked the 9th best-selling brand. But in August this Chinese representative surged into 6th place and displaced subscription brands such as Hino, Fuso, Isuzu, Wuling. Even BYD's performance knocked Hyundai off the list of August's top 10 best-selling brands.

Despite the turmoil, the position of the number one to fifth best-selling brands is still filled by Japanese brands. Toyota remains the best-selling first, followed by Daihatsu, Honda, Mitsubishi and Suzuki.

Sales of all Gaikindo brands in August rose 2.8 percent from July to 76,304 units. When compared to August 2023, the result fell by 12.6 percent.

During January-August total sales reached 560,619 units. This record fell 17.1 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
